The adoption of the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine touching the decentralization of power will allow Ukraine to become a successful European state.
Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said this at the conference entitled "Constitutional reform in Ukraine: achievements and prospects" in Kyiv on Thursday.
Groysman said these amendments were very important and their adoption would allow changing our country and holding of deep reforms in other sectors. "We have a challenge, [its overcoming] will allow to change the old centralized system of government as without any changes it will preserve our country in a 'post-Soviet nowadays'," he said. According to the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada "no quality steps would then be possible to continue reforms."
In Groysman's words, at present Ukraine "is a step" from taking the decision on final adoption of the constitutional amendments. He thanked the members of the Constitutional Commission for their work on the respective draft law.
"I am deeply confident that we will overcome the challenges. If we do succeed Ukraine will become a successful European state. If not, we will remain hostages of the old system," Groysman said.
